it's about Him and not us.
At the center of all this, Christ rules.
Ephesians 1:22
"And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way." (Ephesians 1:22-23).
Max Lucado writes: "We struggle with the idea of Christ being the center of it all because we've been demanding our way since infancy."
We want spouses who make us happy, co-workers who respect us and asks us of our opinions, weather that suits us, a government that serves us and a God to give us everything we want and desire. Take a moment to just hear ourselves. It's all about us!
Take another scenario for example, if an orchestra plays in the same approach, each of the instruments clamouring for self-expression. Wind instruments blasting non stop, percussionists pounding to get attention and strings doing whatever they want. Harmony? Hardly. Happiness? Not at all. Who enjoys confusion or contributing to a cacophony? What would happen if we each took our place, played our part, following the score He gave us, and made His song our song? What if there was less "here's what I want" and more "what do you suppose God wants?"
"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, who comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Getting our eyes off ourselves and onto Christ makes us more like Him. It'll change us, and it's also about time we change to be more like Him.
