In Matthew 5:8, Jesus talks about how only the pure in heart would see God. Now the problem is not God's inability to be seen, but rather, our inability to recognize Him. To the blind, everything is considered invisible.
After David's encounter with Bathsheba, he asked God to create in him a new heart. What is meant is for his heart to be cleaned-out of all the evil desires and of sin. It basically means, that if you've heard or see too much, give your heart a laxative! Don't carry around what God wants discarded!
In Hebrews 12:1, it is saying that every weight (things that drag you down), and the sin which so easily entraps you, should be gotten rid of. What God wants to show you is worth cleaning up to see!
John 15:3 assures us that we are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Time spent in the Scriptures will cleanse you by convicting you of the sins you're aware of, and exposing ones that you are not aware of so that you can deal with them.
Unidentified, unconfessed and unforgiven sin will block your Spiritual arteries like cholestrol. A heart that's not pure will keep you seeking the wisdom of men rather than the ways of God. It will also keep you in the place of needing prayer instead of being in the place where you can offer prayers for others.
You need to clean out your heart so that you can hear God and see the direction He's leading you in!
