Your ego can get in the way of God's blessing. Superiority and inferiority can contaminate you with an overvalued sense of importance or an undervalued one. Just stay centred on who you are in Christ. That allows you to remain humble yet confident. It's tempting to become proud when others tell you what a great job you're doing and your achievements seem to prove it. That's when you must remain humble; otherwise you're setting yourself up for a fall. Your true worth is determined by who you are in Christ, not your bank account or the title on your business card! Don't become pretentious as you advance; keep your head down. Give the glory to God and the credit to others at every opportunity.
David knew he'd been selected to be king long before he got the job. But he had to wait on God's timing, rather than force things. And when he finally became king he never forgot that his elevation to the throne was the result of the Lord's blessing, not his own doing.
If you feel unrecognised and unrewarded right now, stop and remember who you're doing it for. Trust God to bless you according to His timetable and His abundance. When others ignore you, "diss" you, unfairly criticise or backstab you, don't succumb to believing any of these lies from the enemy. Such words are simply the devil's fiery darts trying to scorch through your defences. Pray for the protection of your Heavenly Father, stay humble, and remember your God-given identity.
